Michael R. Gordon
Co-Author, The Endgame
Michael R. Gordon is the co-author of “The Endgame,” an authoritative account of political and military events in Iraq from the American-led invasion in 2003 through the withdrawal of American forces at the end of 2011.
A former correspondent for The New York Times, Gordon has covered military operations in Iraq and Syria against the Islamic State, the Iraq War, the war in Afghanistan, the Kosovo conflict, the Russian intervention in Chechnya, the 1991 Persian Gulf War and the American invasion of Panama.
Together with Bernard Trainor, he has also written The Generals' War: The Inside Story of the Conflict in the Gulf, which covers the 1991 Gulf War and Cobra II, which covers the invasion and occupation of Iraq.
Gordon was with the Iraqi Counterterrorism Service during operations in West Mosul and was also one of the few Western correspondents in Tabqa, Syria. He also served as the Times’ bureau chief in Moscow.
